Guinness World Record - Largest Clean Up Underwater

It's a new year and time to break a new world record! We are combining a world record attempt with our 14th annual pier cleanup, to add to our current Guinness World Record title of, The Longest Human Chain Underwater with 386 scuba divers. On Saturday June 15, 2019, we will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Most participants in an underwater clean-up in 24 hours (single venue) at the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier, Deerfield Beach, FL.

The current Guinness World Record is held by Ahmed Gabr with 614 divers on June 5, 2015 in the Red Sea, Egypt. Our target is 700.

Join MODS to celebrate World Oceans Day, an international event to learn about and honor our blue planet and the oceans connecting us all! Enjoy a day full of fun activities and presentations brought to you by community organizations working to improve our environment in South Florida.

STOKED ON SALT: Create a mural from beach cleanup trash.

FREE PLASTIC: Learn how to re-purpose and upcycle single-use plastics. Take an animal mold home!

DISTINGUISHED SPEAKER: Dr. Larry Wood has been working with sea turtles in Florida for more than 25 years. He’s undertaken nesting beach surveys, helped develop a sea turtle rehab facility and created numerous education programs. Dr. Wood has contributed to sea turtle conservation in many ways.

SOUTH FLORIDA SYMPHONY: Instrument petting zoo and workshop.

Help us grab #TheExtraCatch on Saturday April 6 at the Museum of Discovery and Science beach cleanup.

WHERE: Jetty Pavilion at Dr. von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park

INCLUDES: Waived park fee, free parking, cleaning supplies, water/Gatorade.

BRING: Reusable water bottle (no cups are provided), sunscreen, bug spray, hat, close-toed shoes and appropriate clothing for beach and weather.

Statewide Beach Cleanup- Southeast Region

This clean up will be part of a statewide effort to clean up our waterways. Parking is available in the large parking lot immediately across the street from the center. This event is hosted by the Florida Chapter of the American Fisheries Society and the Marine Environmental Education Center at the Carpenter House.

2019 Broward County Waterway Cleanup

The Broward County Waterway Cleanup, organized by the Marine Industries Association of South Florida, is the county’s largest and longest-running environmental event.

Each year the Broward County Waterway Cleanup attracts thousands of volunteers from many neighborhoods and communities throughout the county. People of all ages come out in their boats and along the shores to clean all kinds of debris from the waterways.

All volunteers will receive an official WWCU T-shirt (while supplies last) and invitation to the Trash Bash after-party event. The cleanup runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the Trash Bash immediately following.

Paddle with a Purpose

In just twelve months volunteers removed over 10,000 lbs. for trash from the North Fork of the New River.  Anything from tires, fire extinguishers to the kitchen sink.  Help us to remove trash and make new friends.  We meet every month on the third Saturday from 9 am to 11 am. This month our team will meet at Reverend Samuel Delevoe Memorial Park, 2520 NW 6th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311.  Kayaks and canoes are available on a first come, first serve basis.  We encourage you to bring your own.  For more information call Robert Figueroa at 917.652.1050

Beach Clean Up - Florida Sand Angels

We are excited to co host this event with Free Our Seas & Beyond, Surfrider Foundation Broward County and Sun of a Beach Cleanup.

Grab your flip flops & beanies because we are getting trashed & making sand angels! We will be back at Dr. Von D. Mizell – Eula Johnson State Park, formerly known as John U. Lloyd at the Jetty pavilion, from 8:30- 10:30am for the Sand Angels Beach Cleanup. Let’s show the beach some love & remove a ton of trash before it washes out to sea! Afterwards we will have coffee to warm you up & a pop up shop by the legendary @seashelladdict. Buckets & reusable gloves will be available at the registration table. Please bring your reusable water bottles, comfortable shoes & reef safe sunscreen. Minors must be accompanied by a chaperone & bring a waiver signed by a guardian. We will email you a waiver when you register at volunteercleanup.org
